Full Bio
Mr. Oliver is the Technical Director of Theatre at Seven Lakes High School, bringing a wealth of experience and a passion for theatre education to the role. With a B.F.A in Theatre and Communication Education from the University of Central Oklahoma (2016) and an M.Ed in Curriculum and Instruction with an Emphasis in Theatre Pedagogy (2020), Mr. Oliver combines a strong educational foundation with practical experience in theatre production and instruction.
Since beginning his teaching career in 2016, Mr. Oliver has dedicated himself to fostering a dynamic and engaging learning environment for students. He spent two formative years teaching in the Putnam City School District in Oklahoma before relocating here to Katy. He worked at Beckendorff Junior High School alongside Ms. Rickford, a collaboration that ultimately led to a dynamic duo that has become well known across the district and region which helped lead to both securing positions at Seven Lakes High School.
As Technical Director, Mr. Oliver is committed to inspiring students to achieve excellence while enjoying the creative process. His teaching philosophy centers on helping students find the perfect balance between striving for their best and relishing the joy of theatrical performance. By pushing for an enhanced educational experience, Mr. Oliver ensures students have ample opportunities to demonstrate and master the skills learned in theatre classes, preparing them for future success both on and off the stage (or backstage, and in the tech booth)!
Through his leadership, Mr. Oliver aims to cultivate a thriving theatre community at Seven Lakes High School through Studio VII Theatre Co., where students are encouraged to explore their talents, challenge themselves, and develop a lifelong appreciation for the arts.
